Banca Sella. A unique tradition

Banca Sella
“Banking” is different from any other business. A bank for its Customers is something more than a simple supplier. Doing our job well and respecting an ethical behaviour will allow for the generation of value not only for our Business, but for all Stakeholders.
A responsible behaviour, inspired by ethical values, forms the basis for a lasting and sound growth of the Group, as well as for its contribution to a sustainable development of the local community.

A history dating back to the XIX Century
The history of Gruppo Banca Sella dates back to the end of the XIX century when some members of the Sella family, which for more than three centuries had been entrepreneurs in the textile field, decided to establish a banking institution. The iconic figure of Quintino Sella (1827-1884), who held the role of Minister of Finance in Italy during the Risorgimento and succeeded in achieving the balance of the State budget, is recognized as having inspired the idea of creating a credit institution and passed on his intention to his sons and nephews, who fulfilled this important project in 1886. Gaudenzio Sella (1860-1934) was called to manage the bank and on August 23rd 1886, together with his brothers and cousins, he signed the articles of incorporation of the new company “Banca Gaudenzio Sella & C.”. On September 1st of the same year the first branch was opened. In 1992 Gruppo Banca Sella was established.
After almost 130 years since its creation the control of the Group is still in the hands of the Sella family.

Gruppo Banca Sella today
Gruppo Banca Sella is a well-structured organization consisting of more than twenty companies operating in different geographical areas and offering a wide range of banking and financial products and services. The importance of innovation
Our economy is going through a period of great discontinuity and needs to be oriented towards entrepreneurship and innovation in all sectors of business. A bank has the duty to do its job well to sustain the economic environment. In order to do so the bank has to be able to “read what is new”, it has to be able to identify and assess the ideas that might create something new for the economy and for the production system of the territory. A bank, in such a context, must take on itself the role of “facilitator” and of “driver of change”, supporting those that are open to innovation and working on first-class solutions for those who have long been in the field of digital economy. SellaLab was born from this idea: the research, development and innovation centre of Gruppo Banca Sella and the accelerator of ideas for the territory. It combines research activity and the support to start-ups and small-medium sized companies, offering know-how and instruments to develop innovative projects. It works in collaboration with incubators, entrepreneurs, investors, institutions and universities, contributing to the growth of the system and of the territory. Those entrepreneurs and professionals eager to innovate their business may turn to Sellalab to develop their projects and connect with many diverse experiences, professional skills, potential investors, other entrepreneurs, incubators, universities and institutions, having also the support of the services and consultancy network of the Bank.
